Abram's Room

I have never had such an arduous slew of painting projects until we tackled this room.  We had to prime (thank you lovers of strange green color before us) and then had to paint lots of trim, two different colors on the wall, repaint the trim, and then cut in the very last bit.  I of course put up all the paint only to decide I wanted to do some caulk work along the trim and had to start all over again in many places.  It turned out wonderful.  We had to paint a door and replaced some door knobs (they were gold before).  I also got to paint a shelf that I have had for years and the biggest project of all was the glider.  The glider has a story.  I love all things that have a story.  The only new furniture in the room is going to be the crib.  The dresser is mine from high school and back to the glider... well it's not ancient (NOR IS THE LADY THAT OWNED IT) but it came from my Great-Grandmother's house in Oklahoma.  Opal has since moved to Seattle (I am jealous) and I called dibs on her glider from the house on Lake Texhoma.  As I started sanding it down, I could smell bacon, I immediately felt like I needed to nap and all the other memories of Opal's came streaming back to me.  This is why I like old not new.  I primed and painted this booger multiple times, but there are many different sheens coming through on this thing.  Mom is recovering the old cushions to match the room.  I can't wait to rock our little guy in this for hours.  Thank you Opal!
