Month Four!

I think every parents' dream is to spend their first holiday as a family.  Months 3-5 all ran together as one big celebration.  We went straight from Thanksgiving to Christmas then anniversaries and birthdays.  Month 4 in particular was of course the best of the bunch.  Sadly we started out the month with the leftovers of thrush.  As Abram refused a bottle more and more, we decided to try to get him something/anything to eat.  So at the very beginning of month 4, Abram got his first real food!  Sweet Potatoes!! Boy they were a hit too!  We only had them for a few days to hold him over, but he loved them while they lasted.  Abram also spent the entire month crashed in his bed.  He hated his pacifier this month so it took a lot of patting and soothing to go down.  He also refuses to sleep on his back and always has, so needless to say, we love our motion sensor Angel Care monitors.  They help Adam and I sleep peacefully at night!  Abram spent a lot of time swinging in front of the tree and laying under it and staring at the lights.  One of the greatest things for this Momma had to be when Abram got to go meet Santa!  We were able to spend a short amount of time with our families.  We spent a lot more time on the road (and in Adam's new Challenger since my car was still in the shop), but Abram did great!  He got some great presents, but his two faves came from his last Christmas with dear ole Mom and Dad.  Santa and us got got his Baby Einstein exersaucer and a car jumperoo!  He has fallen in love with both of them.  These toys brought on other firsts like his enormous squeaky belly laugh and chuckles.  Such music to our ears!  Sadly with one step forward, we go backwards and had to switch formulas for the 8th time!  The positive is that we learned soy and oatmeal to be one of his better combinations!  He started sleeping more and was a much happier little dude (which I didn't think was possible!)  He had his four month appointment and weighed in at a whopping 15.65!  He looked great on all development milestones (ahead on all!)  We upped his Zantac medicine, but the spit-up only got worse!  His doctor recommended that we take him for an Upper GI.  All in all, it was a great month filled with basketball, family, friends, and loads of fun!  He finished in Size 2 diapers and in 6 month Carter outfits!

Month Three!

Abram has been both a joy and a handful this month!  We got to do all sorts of things both fun and not so.  Abram got to go to his first playoff game, learn to chuckle, stay in his first hotel room, go to his first thanksgiving, take his first trip "home", get his first stomach bug, got in his first car wreck, spent a lot of time shopping, and spend time under his first Christmas tree.  We had to go to his pediatrician this month because he wasn't eating well.  Come to find out, he had thrush again.  Right after that he got a cold of some sort that turned cruddy quickly, but we fought it off with vicks rub and the humidifier.  His Nana and PaPaw came to see us at the beginning of the month to watch a playoff game in Plainview.  It was a great but very short visit.  He was very fussy, and very spit-uppy, but it was refreshing to have visitors.  We switched formula many more times this month to try to find something that would settle well, and spent most of the month on Enfamil AR.  This has worked the best at this point.  At the Dr., he weighed in at 14.35 pounds which put him at almost three pounds gained in a month.  Dr. Maaytah was very impressed with this and said that he must be keeping down enough at this point not to worry!  He developed a smile that has charmed many people with dimples that can be seen from every angle.  We spent another weekend in Wichita Falls with my family for the second playoff game.  Although we lost, it was amazing to see how many people drove all the way to watch a football game and visit.  We also got to go home the next weekend and spent time in Arlington looking at cars, in Hamilton seeing the Watson side, Waco the Thom side, Stephenville to see the Glovers, and spent time eating lunch at J&D's with Dad and C. Abram has two new cousins this month too.  After we got home from Thanksgiving, we put up the tree.  Abram was in awe with the lights and it brought me so much joy to hang our new family ornament and decorate our home for the holidays.  Sadly, we hit a deer this month.  It was very late and very scary for all three of us in the car.  Adam was driving and did a great job of handling the situation with the police and tow trucks while I got a ride home to get Abram to sleep.  It was still a great month to watch him learn who we are, learn to sleep better through the night, and learn how to start grasping for things that he wanted!

11/16- slept through the night :)
12/3- slept through the night in his bed!

Month Two!

The second month of Abram's life have come and gone so quickly that we are closer to the third month than the second, but that is just the way it goes!  Abram has really "woken-up" this wake.  I mean literally!  He.is.awake.all.the.time!  He has started to smile and wiggle around for enjoyment rather than just because he was ticked off.  We have a spitter upper and we are still struggling to get it under control.  He smiles when Adam and I are talking to him and giggles when we play.  He has started to really try to coo and talk to us when he gets really excited about something.  Towards the end of month two, he started stringing five and six hours of sleep together in the evening hours allowing me to get a little more sleep than month one.  At five weeks he rolled over, and hasn't stopped since!  He is on a fast-path as far as developments are concerned. Before his two month appointment we were seeing that he was starting to pack on a few pounds and we were not wrong when we took him to his weigh in.  He weighed 11.55 pounds and had grown to 22 1/2 inches.  He took his shots like a champ, but had a reaction to one that swelled up his leg pretty bad.  Luckily we had no fevers, so one day and we were done!  We also got to spend a weekend with his great-grandparents LaRue and Don who came to see us.  They brought us his cute Halloween costume which he spent about an hour in before he fell asleep.  He was wonderful at all of the football games and is quite the little ham!  Abram also got to see his first snow!  Although I had to go back to work this month, we made it over that hurdle and enjoyed an awesome month with our little man!

Big news:
Rolling over consistently from his stomach to his back.
He can hold his head at a 45 degree angle for a long time.
Is starting to really enjoy sucking on his arm.
Likes to be held, but still not on his back.
Has started to really enjoy time on his stomach playing on the floor.
Likes to swing.
Loves for people to talk to him.
He is wearing 3 month clothes consistently now and size 1 diapers.
Still fighting spit-up!
